Development of New Kāhui (House) Names

In 2024, Kahurangi led the development of new names for Cambridge Middle School house groups (kāhui). This process was approached with care and respect, ensuring that each step was carried out thoughtfully and appropriately.

The development involved consultation with kaumātua, whānau, and the senior leadership team of the kura to ensure the names and narratives were culturally grounded and meaningful for the school community.

From this process came the development of visual identities for each kāhui. I worked alongside my whanaunga, Isaiah, who designed the logos representing each house. This was another natural progression in strengthening the cultural identity of the kura.
