Kapa Haka Performance at Festival One
We recently formed a whānau kapa haka group to provide opportunities for people outside of work or school to engage more deeply with kaupapa Māori. Over a 10-week wānanga, participants strengthened their understanding of kapa haka — from posture, wiri, and pukana to vocal techniques — while building meaningful connections with each other and Māori cultural practices. The group proudly performed at Festival One 2026, showcasing their skills and the power of community learning. This programme fosters both skill and whānau, creating a space for learning, storytelling, and shared whakapapa through performance.
